Merry Solstice!

(Disclaimer:  this blog is on semi-hold as we are on the road for a few months doing some camping.  My apologies for the crappy IPhone photos, brief narration, and glaring misspellings made while pecking laboriously on a tiny keyboard.)
The Solstice music: June Hymn by The Decemberists
(Pretty much my favorite song in the world.)

The food: fish tacos beside Mono Lake

The fun: popscicles with cousins

Wish you were here.

Miss you!

Really.

With Our Hands.

One of the most wonderful things about not having much Internet or the Xbox or Netflix or the daily beeps and bells of city life is that we make so many things.

This week we made shields and swords in the shop.

We collected the most beautiful desert flora and made arrangements for every room in the house.

We made an adorable perch for Athena. (Someday I'll tell you the hilarious story of me riding my bike with these giant limbs attached to the handlebars with bungie cords. I'm sure you can imagine.)

Um, what else?

I dunno. Seems like we create something every day.

Deelish.

I'm actually in the adorable, gorgeous town of Los Gatos, CA, today visiting dear cousins. Lest you are envisioning me in the desert spinning straw or something. I'm actually lolling about in a darling little boutique hotel, still giddy from seeing the Indigo Girls in concert last night! At a winery on top of a magnificent hill no less. (A surprise from my cousins!)

Slumming I tell ya'!

Another week at Deep Springs then off on our camping adventure!

Yee Haw.

Miss you!

We Love JackDaddy!

Love those Daddies, y'all!

Baby bird rescue.
Mammoth rendition of tennis shoes on a wire.
Goats in a pick-up truck.
"Dangerous" river crossing.

Gorgeous town, great mini-trip.

Miss you!

Just had to show you...

(Disclaimer:  this blog is on semi-hold as we are on the road for a few months.  My apologies for the crappy IPhone photos, brief narration, and glaring misspellings made while pecking laboriously on a tiny keyboard with my poor vision.)

what my mama sent me for my 11th wedding anniversary with jackdaddy.

Holy CRAP I have been wanting these sooooo badly. I made myself not by them (yet) as we were going to away from home for so long, but oh, oh, oh, I am out of my mind with love for having them NOW after all.

I couldn't resist the close-up shots.

Which one is your favorite?

I can't decide!

Squeeeallll.

Also a stack of waffle weave cotton napkins.

Swoon.

Does she know me or WHAT?

I'm giddy and so,so,so grateful.

Miss you!

(Aren't I just awful? Nary a mention of my dear husband and our wonderful years together.  Nope, all I wanna dish about is silverware!! Hoo haww...y'all know me.)

Last Beach Day.

Heading back to Deep Springs today.

Sigh.

I always feel sad when leaving the beach.

Always always.

I think it's partly due to the end of complete relaxation (aside from parking our HUGE truck on the tiny beach streets), but also because I just feel soooo good when close to the ocean.

There is some ancient thing in me (my almost 50-year-old ass for one thing) that pulls me to the water.

Sigh.

I'm also soooo not a desert girl so, extracting myself from the Pacific Ocean and returning to Death Valley well, you know what I'm saying'.

Oh well, we've had a delicious (literally) time and I'm beyond grateful to be having such wonderful adventures.

Lucky me!

We're off to the La Brea Tar Pits this morning. Have you ever been there? SO radalicious!

I wish I could figure out how to mix up text and photos, but I'm just a lazy ass with all this phone blogging business.

Miss you!
