I've been out of my mind with desire ever since I saw this post on Ohdeedoh:

I'm gonna show you the final version just in case you don't feel like popping over there for a look at the whole tutorial...

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this.  I  think it's just about the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.  So Narnian.  So magical.  So perfectly perfect perfect.
I'm also pretty sure that I'm not going to be able to reproduce it any time soon.  I'm kind of in a frenzy of purging and cleaning and there's no way I have time for this (much less go out and find a piece of furniture, which also means selling a piece of furniture), but I'm working on a little sumpin to tide me over.

I have this old, cheapo dresser that my cousin gave me and I had actually just offered it to a friend of mine because I was moving it out with the cleaning.  Well, when I started hauling it out of Finnigan's room he went ballistic!!! Who knew?!?!  I would never sell or give away  anything of his without his permission, so I was completely taken aback by this hullabaloo.  Fortunately, I had promised it to a friend and she was quite lovely about the situation (Thanks, Debi xoxox).
Here's the "fabulous" piece she's missing out on...

Yea, ouch, right?

I was able to convince the boy that the dresser needed a makeover if it was going to stay and he agreed.  (whew)
Enter some leftover green paint (is there anything I won't paint green?),

Better already.
Next, there is a  box of old maps has been calling my name, so I dug into that ...

Maps, maps, maps! - only one of the many perks of being married to a geologist.
Maps and Mod Podge go very well together...

Lookie there!  Map covered drawers!
And a word of warning...

Make sure not to put the map upside down.  ARG.

Voila!  A little preview of map dresser love for ya!
Now to obsess over pulls and what to put on the top, if anything.  I'm thinking maybe enlarged pages from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader or Treasure Island or ... hmmmm.  Endless possibilities, ducky!

Now, while you're waiting on pins and needles for the finished product, you know what you need to be doing, right?  Rushing on over to Apartment Therapy to vote for MY HOUSE in the Room for Color Contest.  La, la, la.  I am now in FIRST PLACE in my division, but not by much.  I need a big, fat, cozy margin so roust your friends and family to my rescue!!
