One Man's Pan

There's this 20-something guy who lives down the street from me. I would call him "colorful." I have a feeling his not-so-distant-past is rather checkered. Now, I'm no saint, that's for sure. I'm not being judgmental, I'm just calling it how I see it. I've got my own checkered past to be judgmental about without worrying about his too. This kid is perfectly nice and friendly. We've been waving buddies for years.
Today he walks by, slows down, and says,
"Dude. I really like your ganja smokin' devil dude."
Crickets.
My mind is racing...devil dude. devil dude. devil dude.
Suddenly, I realize he's talking about my flute-playing Pan.
There you have it - one man's Pan is another man's ganja-smokin' devil.
Dude, isn't the world great?

I don't think I would ever consider of it being anything but Pan but, obviously, our reference points are not the same.
Onward, through the fog.

Can you blame him? Cloven feet, and it looks like he just lifted his finger off the carburetor. ;-)

It's always a good idea to be on friendly terms with an interesting neighbor.
